They are both v8s and look virtually identical on the outside Easy way to tell is to check the vin If it has a lt1, the 8th digit will be a p (example 1g4bn52 p xxxxxxxx) if it has the 4.3 v8 it will have a w for the 8th digit
Also lt1 cars have factory dual exhaust, whereas the l99 cars only have single exhuast on the passenger side.
